CCM Health Breaks Ground on New Child Care Center

CCM Health hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, to mark the beginning of construction on its new Child Care Center. The event welcomed officials from Chippewa County and the City of Montevideo, CCM Health board members, staff, and children currently enrolled in the organization’s childcare program. Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed root beer floats as a celebration of the milestone.

The new child care center —scheduled for completion by fall 2025—will significantly expand CCM Health’s childcare capacity. It replaces the current childcare space, located within the ambulance building, with a modern, 5,000-square-foot facility on the site of the former Veterans Affairs Clinic. Once complete, the new center will accommodate up to 70 children, more than doubling the previous capacity.

“This project is about more than just a new building—it’s about supporting our team and investing in the future of our community,” said Brian Lovdahl, CEO of CCM Health. “Reliable, quality childcare helps us attract and retain the best people. It’s an essential piece of what makes CCM Health a great place to work.”

The expansion also represents a strategic approach to the future of workforce support and employee well-being. By ensuring on-site access to childcare, CCM Health continues its commitment to meeting the needs of employees in both their professional and personal lives.

Kelly Johnson, CCM Health’s Human Resources Director, emphasized the impact of the project: “This new center not only supports our staff but sends a strong message that CCM Health values family and understands the realities our employees face. We’re proud to offer a benefit that directly improves work-life balance and reduces stress for our team.”

The former childcare space within the ambulance building will be repurposed into a training and conference center, further enhancing CCM Health’s capacity for staff development and education.
