CCM Health Welcomes Stella Nwachukwu, DNP,PMHNP to Their Behavioral Health Team
CCM Health is excited to welcome Stella Nwachukwu, DNP, PMHNP, to its Behavioral Health team. Nwachukwu earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Winona State University and her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She holds certifications and maintains professional memberships with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Specializing in behavioral health, Nwachukwu will join Jennifer Briest, Kate Fitzkappes, Cassie Sonstegard, Krystle Drietz, and Nicole Wellendorf within CCM Health’s growing Behavioral Health team.
Nwachukwu was inspired by the examples set by her mother and maternal grandfather, both of whom were nurses whose dedication and impact left a lasting impression on her. Her passion for helping others heal, feel supported, and improve their overall well-being guided her professional journey up the clinical ladder, moving from a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Registered Nurse (RN), and ultimately to a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. “Nursing is a natural calling, but education nurtures that calling to serve and care for individuals,” she shares.
In her practice, Stella is passionate about integrating evidence‑based care with a biopsychosocial approach, providing compassionate, person‑centered behavioral health support tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. She believes deeply in collaboration and empowerment, working closely with patients to help them understand mental health from a whole‑person perspective, including body, mind, environment, lifestyle choices, and relationships.
In her free time, Stella enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, and their five children. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, attending her kids’ sports events, listening to music, dancing, meditating, and visiting family and close friends.
Stella Nwachukwu will begin seeing patients in Montevideo in June.
