CCM Health Moves Forward Building a New Childcare Center for Employees

CCM Health is excited to share that it has received approval from the Montevideo City Council and the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners to move forward with the construction of a new childcare center for staffs’ children. The new facility, set to break ground this spring, will expand and provide much-needed childcare services for CCM Health staff, supporting the organization’s commitment to being one of the best places to work in the United States.

The $2.4 million construction project will replace CCM Health’s existing childcare facility, which is currently located in a portion of the ambulance building and is licensed for 31 children, with a waiting list. The new 5,000-square-foot center will accommodate up to 70 children, doubling CCM Health’s childcare capacity.

The new childcare center will be built on the site of the former Veterans Affairs Clinic, located across the street from the ambulance garage. Demolition of the old clinic will begin in early April 2025, with construction expected to start soon after. The existing childcare space in the ambulance building will be repurposed into a conference center and training area.

Brian Lovdahl, CEO of CCM Health, emphasized the importance of the project in helping recruit and retain healthcare professionals in Montevideo.

“Providing quality childcare on-site is a significant factor in attracting and retaining our dedicated staff,” said Lovdahl. “Our employees are the heart of CCM Health, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting them both professionally and personally. Expanding our childcare services will not only benefit our employees but also help alleviate childcare shortages in the broader community.”

The new childcare center is expected to open in the fall of 2025.
